Ceramicafe & Mission BayOur weekends have been quite different around here recently since we can’t go out for drinks or eat out at restaurants while we’re doing our “challenge”. As much as I miss Friday night drinks and yummy food, it’s forced us to get creative with our date nights and we’ve been a lot more active overall. How I Learned to Love Running

How I Learned to Love RunningI’ve found that for me, like most people, the New Year means a lot of self-reflection on the past year of your life and where you hope to be in the upcoming year. Even though I have lots of things I’d like to be better at in the New Year, I did learn a lot about myself in 2014 and made leaps and bounds forward when it came to my nutrition and fitness. I would have to say that my most notable fitness accomplishment of 2014 was definitely running my first half marathon (with an obstacle course and mud, no less). It’s a goal I’ve wanted to accomplish since 2008 and I’m so happy I can finally check it off my bucket list. Continue reading

A Week of Workouts: Sept 7th-13th

Workouts Sept 7th-13thOkay, so working out is supposed to make us feel strong and young and energized, right? That’s what everyone tells us and what all the studies say at least. “Exercise so you look great at 60.” “Exercise so you feel ready to take on the day.” Blah blah blah. Well, I’m calling bullshit. Quite frankly, after I exercise I want to take a nap. I’m so lethargic that 60 year olds are flying by me as I walk down the street. And I’m so sore the next day that the stairs and me are in a constant battle that I’m pretty sure I’m never going to win. Continue reading
